The Roman mounds are located in the forest southeast of Miklavž. The burial mound represents an important remnant from the time of the Romans. Most of the mounds are leveled, only three are prominent. In one, there is a stone tomb containing a very rich inventory. The mound with the tomb was accidentally discovered in 1961. In 2002, the burial mound was excavated and the tomb was reconstructed so that it can be viewed. The base for the monument, which once stood in front of the mound, was then also discovered in front of the mound.
When the tomb was opened, it revealed two amphorae, a small bowl made of finely refined clay, seventeen glass vessels, iron clamps, a make-up box made of bronze tinplate, a belt set, a bronze buckle and a bronze coin with the image of the Roman emperor Vespasian (9-79; reigned 69–79). The original findings are today part of the permanent exhibition of the Provincial Museum of Maribor.
