The mill in Fram, owned by the Pečovnik family (also called Matek’s mill), is the only one of the former mills on the waters of Framsko Pohorje. In the higher areas, the mill was used to produce flour mostly for household needs, while in the lowlands there were a few mills (including Matek’s mill) that worked for the needs of the surrounding area and the nearby Drava field. The first mills in this area were listed in 1527, most of them (around 54) were operating before electrification, between the two wars. With the installation of electricity, they were brought to homesteads, where some of them remain preserved but not in use. The first written mention of this mill dates from 1781. It was rebuilt in 1896 for a larger scale activity, and in 1994 it was completely modernized. Nevertheless, the milled products maintain the same biological and nutritional values as they used to in the old farm mills.
